Kevin Sy Piano Faculty

As an enthusiastic music educator, Kevin Sy has taught at various music schools in San Francisco, San Mateo, Fremont, San Ramon, and Foster City before joining the faculty at Little Mission Studio. He has taught piano at San Francisco State University, Artis School of Music, Keyboard Educators, Potrero Hill School of Music, among other places. Kevin has taught private lessons, small and large group classes, and has worked with hundreds of students coming from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. In addition, he has also worked with students from various age groups, ranging from pre-school children, students form K1-12, to college students and working adults.

 

Kevin’s teaching focuses on different elements of piano playing at different stages of learning, and seeks to build a strong technical and musical foundation for students from the get-go. Kevin is particularly keen to diagnosing problems that impede student’s playing, and has helped his students successfully pass piano exams by both the Associated Board of Royal School of Music and Music Teachers’ Association of California.

 

Kevin has performed as a solo pianist throughout the Bay Area. He has performed solo piano works in Le Petit Trianon Theatre, Flint Center for the Performing Arts, and numerous colleges in the Bay Area. He continues to work on projects involving learning large-scale piano works.

 

Kevin is an active member of Music Teachers’ Association of California, and a Director for the MTAC-SF. He holds both a BM and MM in Piano Performance from San Francisco State University.
