Star Trompeter Voice Faculty

Star Trompeter is thrilled to be joining the Voice Faculty at Little Mission Studio.  Star graduated from the University of Virginia, in Charlottesville, VA, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and French Language and Literature, with high distinction.  She received her Master of Music and Vocal Performance, with Academic Honors, from New England Conservatory, in Boston, MA.  She furthered her education at the Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion, Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music in New York, NY, where she received her Master of Sacred Music and was ordained as a Reform Cantor in 2010.

 

While in Boston, Star was interviewed by NPR’s national radio show, From The Top, to discuss her leading role at Harvard University as Susan B. Anthony in Virgil Thompson’s opera, The Mother Of Us All.  An avid Gilbert and Sullivan fan, she performed with nationally recognized Gilbert and Sullivan Troupes on the East Coast and with Lamplighters Musical Theatre Company here in San Francisco. In addition, Star has always been passionate about spreading her love of music to young people.  She taught music theory for the San Francisco Boys Chorus as well as serving as the Director of Voice Faculty at the Community High School for the Arts in Roanoke, Virginia.    

 

As Cantor, Star served reform Jewish communities in Houston, TX, Chappaqua, NY, Columbus, OH and here in San Francisco, where she was instrumental in nurturing and re-envisioning musical programming.  Star regularly produced and performed in concerts and musicals, and she also created and directed youth, teen and adult choirs.  Star looks forward to sharing her musical creativity, innovative spirit and passion for teaching at Little Mission Studio!
