Description:

The Inner Voice Intensive will focus on advanced repertoire performance practice for classical singers. This class is designed for adult singers who want to deepen their knowledge surrounding classical art song, opera arias, performance practice, technique, and authentic storytelling. Students will delve into the who, what, and where of their desired performance pieces and share their findings with a group of other passionate singers. Structured like a masterclass, participants will perform biweekly for their peers with an accompanist. Participants should feel comfortable learning music outside of the class and have some experience studying and/or performing classical music. The intensive will end with a recital that friends and family are welcome to attend!

Previous Experience:

Students should have experience singing classical repertoire.

Audition Requirements:

A brief placement audition is required. Upon enrolling, students should submit an audition video containing:

• A brief introduction. (“Hi, I’m Bob & I’m a tenor! The pieces I will be singing are . . .”)
• Two brief, contrasting, solo excerpts of your choice.
  • Excerpts should showcase ability in expression, articulation, dynamics, & rhythm.
  • Accompaniment is neither provided nor necessary for solo excerpts.
• Total length of your audition video should not exceed 10 minutes in length.
  • • Video taken on a phone or mobile device is completely fine – nothing fancy. 😉
• Deadline for video submission: Tuesday, April 14th, 2026
  • Submit your video via email or cloud service (GoogleDrive, Dropbox, iCloud, etc.).

*Students who have previously taken this class & current private lessons students who have performed in a recent LMS Studio Recital do not need to audition.
